PASTOR OF FAMILY MINISTRIES

Overview

North Point Community Church is looking for a gifted individual who will provide vision & leadership to our Family Ministry, creating a safe and positive environment for children, youth and their families to encounter God and grow in his love. He or she will work with volunteer teams to create a Gospel-centered experience where children, youth and/or their families are able to encounter God’s love and be transformed by Jesus’ life.   

This is a full-time, salaried position that reports directly to the Lead Pastor. While there is some flexibility of hours, it is expected that this person will work some evenings and weekends.

In addition, the person hired for this job will need to meet the requirements for working in the Christian & Missionary Alliance, including licencing, agreement with the Statement of Faith, and Call to Excellence.

North Point Community Church

Vision. To be a place of sanctuary where imperfect people are being perfected by Jesus’ love.

Context. North Point is part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada and has a rich history. It has been part of the north-central communities of Calgary since it first started as a church-plant out of Harvest Hills Alliance Church. With a young, family-oriented, multi-ethnic congregation of 160+, North Point’s Sunday attendance average’s around 115 people, with 40+ of those being children, and majority of which are under the age of 7 years old.

North Calgary reflects the diversified suburban sprawl of the city with a variety of ethnicities and incomes represented. The church itself meets in a school in the community of Hidden Valley and is central to a number of other communities on the northern side of Calgary.

Candidate Profile

Character & Competencies.

  • Vision & passion: Proven qualities of initiative, resilience and calling towards the designated area of ministry, including the ability to give leadership towards clear, achievable objectives.

  • Able to lead and develop volunteers, including direction, support, accountability and creating a strong sense of ownership.

  • Has a love for children, youth and their families, along with a comprehensive understanding of the development stages of each.

  • Excellent people skills, including shepherding, having a positive outlook, encouraging, as well as, working well with others in the church and community.  

  • Capable administrator and manager who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

  • Mature, growing follower of Jesus Christ, giving evidence of joy, peace, faith, hope and love, as well as walking in the life and power of the Spirit.

  • Preferable: Theology/Christian ministry degree, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.

Job Description

Position Objective. To give vision and oversight to the Family Ministry, creating a safe environment where children and youth can encounter Jesus Christ and grow in their faith, as well as creating opportunities to reach out to their friends and family. This person will work with the Lead Pastor to create a comprehensive discipleship plan that reflects the vision and direction of North Point and supports the parents in their calling to nurture their children and spiritually.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Family Ministry (25%): Create opportunities for parents and families to grow relationally and be nurtured in their faith and responsibility.

  • Youth Ministry (35%): Provide vision and oversight to the Youth Ministry, which includes supporting parents in their calling to disciple their adolescent students.

  • Children’s Ministry (35%): Provide vision and oversight to Children’s Ministry, which includes supporting parents in their calling to disciple their children.

  • Other Ministry (5%): Other tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Lead Pastor: Such as Sunday preaching, oversight of an North Point event, pastoral care, etc.
